Prabalgad, one of the more strategic of forts is located on a wide plateau which is densely forested. Enjoy walking through the forest and locating birds, reptiles, and small mammals that inhabit this densely wooded patch of land. The flat top area of the fort is covered by dense forest and has a Ganesh Temple at the zenith. Prabalgad was one of the twenty-three forts which were handed over to the Mughal Empire. In 1658, the Marathas under Shivaji took the fort once again.
